It is a demersal fish, which can live both in brackish estuarine waters (although with a salinity of no less than 20 per thousand), and in typically marine environments. Apparently it would move towards coastal waters in the reproductive season.
Fishing fleet and catching gear
It is caught by the three fleets, with the highest incidence of the coastal fleet, with bottom trawls.
Forms of commercialization
It is marketed as whole, fillet or H&G, frozen for the foreign market and fresh for the domestic market.
